Why we built BooksAuto

Small accounting firms in Canada run payroll for dozens of clients, each with its own pay schedule, province and quirks. The tools they had were either built for one business at a time, or priced per employee in a way that punished growing practices.

BooksAuto started with Canadian payroll for firms with many clients: CPP, CPP2, EI and income tax with the CRA's own formulas for every province and territory outside Quebec, cheques that match the paper in your printer, and T4s and ROEs out the door — online or on Windows.

Then we followed the hours back to where they start. BooksAuto Scheduling builds the staff schedule, runs a tablet time clock and a staff app, and turns approved hours into payroll — for the business itself, or for its accountant. Bookkeeping is next, so a client's books sit right beside the payroll they come from.
